    Dragstrip Tips N Tricks

Ahh good point about the helmet! I never ran my STI at the drag strip and my other cars were 14 to 15 seconds in the 1/4 so I never had to worry about bringing a helmet. Robz32, Thanks for information about the tire pressures!

noob question about entering this race today

I realize this thread is a little old but just in case this type of event comes up again... I'm pretty sure that is a 1/8 mile track not a 1/4 mile track. Your "average Joe" isn't going to own a vehicle that runs a 5.8 index in the 1/4 mile and if they did, the buy in would have to be a lot more...

    Dragstrip Tips N Tricks

What kind of tips and tricks are people using for the Stinger at the drag strip? Recommendations for tire pressures for RWD vs AWD? I'm guessing for RWD you'd you max out the front tire pressure and drop a little off the rear tires? Does anyone remove the plastic engine cover and leave the...

Autox and tracking folks what helmet are you using?

^^^ This 100% Always try on the helmet brand and model (if possible) you plan to buy. I have a smaller head and with some brands I needed a Small while others were a Medium. I ended up going with an HJC motorcycle helmet since they were on the cheap side but had the features I wanted. Also pay...

AWD vs. RWD on a GT?

I'm with Habu968. If it doesn't snow very often where you live, I wouldn't spend the extra money for the AWD... UNLESS, you plan on doing every possible mod and are REALLY into getting the lowest 60 ft time at the drag strip. 2 of my previous vehicles were an 05 Subaru STI (AWD) and an 02 BMW...

Same size tires front and rear on GT

One other thing I'd like to mention, is under-sizing the tire puts your rims at extreme risk of curb rash. I've had my tires save me a few times when I cut a corner just a little too sharp while parking and felt the tire start rubbing but I had just enough time to stop before the rim made...

    Drop-in VS. Air intake System

While the WAI description (I gotta admit that made me lol) is true when the car is at a stand still, I'll bet you a dozen donuts that if the car is moving as slow as 5 to 10mph the IAT will be within a few degrees of a CAI. Once the car is moving even a little bit, the majority of the air...

    Launching..

I'm not familiar with the transmission in the Kia Stinger, but from other automatics I've own, the torque converter stall speed (RPM) is what determines the maximum RPM I could achieve when power braking. Does the Kia Stinger not use a torque converter or does it have some wizardry that allows...

    Kia Stinger Dyno Results Thread

If you want to convert STD correction factor to SAE correction factor, the general rule of thumb is subtract 3 or 4%. If you see a Dyno graph with a STD HP rating of 400, you can multiply by .96 or .97 and get a rough idea of the SAE HP numbers, which would be 384 to 388 HP. Hope this helps!
