New STILLEN Intake and Cat-Back Exhaust Coming Soon (3.3TT)

Just spoke to my buddy who works for Stillen and he told me they've just finished testing their new intake and exhaust for the stinger (3.3TT). The intake alone gained 15 HP at the wheels, the exhaust alone gained 18 HP, and combined they gained 26 HP. Those numbers are better than K&N and Borla. He also told me that it seems KIA has under-rated these from the factory because the baseline dyno pull was 344 WHP (370 WHP with the intake and exhaust). They should be released for sale sometime in the next couple months. I guess it pays to not rush something to market.

I think this would be a great option. I heard a Stillen exhaust system on an Infiniti Q50 3.7 V6 a while ago on youtube and I thought it sounded about perfect. Not too loud and obnoxious but a nice sporty tone/growl. I'm looking forward to hearing this set up.

Those are made by companies which specialize in exhausts. Stillen can just make something to fit the car and gain some hp?s. There won?t be any frills, and even if there was, younknow we?lre Talking $2000+, right?

I always advise people to never compare exhausts or suspension items from one car to another. There?s hardly ever a correlation aside from general ?quality? traits. In this case, it won?t anything mind-numbing. Stillen ranks in the lower mid-tier brands just below the Magnaflow and Borlas of the world. Good, but nowhere near the level of Jun BL or ARK. I?d anticipate their pricing to be in the $1100 range.

Are the filters for the intake sealed like OEM?
No way, don?t expect any manufacturers to do that anytime soon.

Because of the amount of R&D involved to do a fully enclosed setup. Add that to how recently the car's come out and it's unlikely we'll see it anytime soon, if ever. If you're coming from other markets, keep in mind the KDM scene is absolutely miniscule, so R&D and production costs can't be easily offset. The Gen Coupe had a huge market and there was only 1 fully enclosed setup made--by a rather small specialist-type company--and that was upwards of $500 for a single side. From my POV the chances are extremely low, that's all. If a big name manufacturer does step up, then it wouldn't be until Q3 at the earliest IMHO.

I believe they have their own mufflers. We're a Stillen dealer and I'm not a big fan of the company or their products. We actually had a recent issue with an exhaust and the customer was getting very little support and shoddy communication from them in regard to the warranty replacement, which really put us in a precarious position. Either way, don't get me wrong--Stillen is ok, but I just feel for their price range there's generally better overall options. Still though, it's certainly worth giving them a chance to see what they bring to the table for the Stinger market.

Damn, I really need to pop my hood and take a look inside. Seems like it would be as simple as adding a plastic insulated top.

Very true, even on the more popular models like the Forte and Elantra that competes with the Focus, Impreza and Civics I'm shocked at the tiny aftermarket selection they have.

Well just because the car is designed and marketed to compete with other cars doesn't mean the tuning scene will be the equivalent. KDM's are ridiculously small scenes. I can tell you from experience with other businesses I'm part of that we sell 100 to 500 of one item to every equivalent item of a KDM. Can't really blame manufacturers from putting us on a secondary level. On the other hand, that's what makes us so much more rare!

But you would think based on the number of cars they sell you would see more than whats out there right now. Are the ECUs on the Hyundais and Kias that hard to crack?

I haven't seen production/sales numbers recently, but in the past there were still many more Honda's, Nissan's on the road than Hyundai/Kia's. That may have changed or evened out now, but the fact remains that the aftermarket scenes are very far apart.

And yes, Hyundai/Kia ECU's are notoriously difficult to crack. Those who do keep it a very closely-guarded secret.

Stillen gets (got) their name from what they've done behind the wheel. Making and selling parts is one thing they do trying to support their performance building and driving habit! :)
